“Thanks-giving” has many facets. Some of them are all around us in easily seen traditions. Some facets are keys to the kingdom, and not as clearly seen.
Psalm 100: 4-5 reads, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good…”
At the start of the Psalm, verses 1- 2 encourage us to shout joyfully to Him, serve Him with gladness, and come before Him with joyful singing. Sometimes we perceive these as commands, and we just don’t feel it. What if we viewed these verses as a quick “how to” manual, written by a friend who has come alongside us and has His arm wrapped around our shoulders to give comfort and peace?
How do we find those gates, so that we can enter? Through thanksgiving. How do we find His courts, that we may counsel with Him? Through praise. How do we serve Him with gladness? By understanding that we are co-laborers sharing the task together.…there is a Plan, a destiny, and we are implementing it together…. As He is our joy, so we are His joy.
May He abundantly strengthen and refresh you as you find Him in your thanks-giving. (Deb)
